Visual notes
Visual notes — also called Graphic Recording — are live-drawn images on topics covered in meetings or workshops while listening to the participants and presenters. The process of live-drawing is often seen as a part of the meeting: The images unfold with the conversation, and people appreciate seeing their input represented as an integral part of the whole.
The tangible result of my work is often a large mural of images and words that can be used by clients for their publications, websites and reporting. Visual notes communicate – in an engaging way – the content of a meeting (both during and after). My visuals are shown throughout this website.
The value of such an approach was proven in a series of workshops held in remote communities of southern Labrador to teach about polar bear conservation and safety. For a CBC article about the project, go to:

Animation
Animation can include unheard voices and tell complex stories in compelling ways. I was Artistic Director & Animator on an educational film, “The Dirt on Clean Energy: the Lower Churchill Hydro-electric Project and the Maritime Link,” with Director Catherine Martin, Mi’kmaq film-maker. Executive Producer FemNorthNet [2015]
There is also a described video version of this film here.
